NRA Credit Card
First Bankcard has recently partnered with the National Rifle Association to offer the NRA Credit Card program. This program has been shaped to benefit both you and the NRA. There are low rates and rewards available, and when you use this card, the issuer provides funds to the NRA to help support their programs.
Benefits and Perks
This program offers two options: a low rate NRA Visa card and a rewards NRA Visa card.
- The low rate card offers 0% APR on balance transfers and purchases for 12 months, and after that there is a variable APR of 9.99% to 18.99%.
- The rewards card gives you 1 point per dollar on qualifying purchases wherever Visa is accepted. With the NRA Maximum Rewards program there are loads of different rewards to redeem your points for.
Both of these cards give you a $35 bonus statement credit when you make your first purchase, which is enough to cover a full year of membership with the NRA. With Visa you get the normal benefits such as fraud protection and travel accident insurance.
Interest Rates and Charges
The APR for cash advances is 25.24%. Late payment and returned payment fees are up to $35. There is no annual fee and no monthly fee. The grace period lasts for a minimum of 21 days and the minimum interest charge $1.75. Foreign transaction fees are 3% of the amount in dollars.
It is very important with the NRA Credit Card program that you pay all your bills on time and never exceed your credit limit. Not only is there a penalty APR as high as 29.99% (depending on your creditworthiness), you will also lose your rewards program.
Summary
These cards offer enough benefits to make them worth your while, and you can support the NRA without having to make direct contributions. You should be very careful of the penalties however.
